VERO BEACH — Carl Fetzer is one of 10 star dancers in this season’s Fourth Annual Dancing with Vero’s Stars, benefiting the Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition, and is also a member of the Kiwanis Club.

Fetzer, members of the Kiwanis Club and 100 other volunteers, participated earlier in December in one of four yearly missions from the Youth in Action organization.

Headed by Richard Schlitt and Al Sammartino, the 14-year-old organization enlists Vero Beach High School, St. Edward’s School and Indian River Charter High School students and Key Club members in a one day community service project.

It began as a way to help the elderly and single parent families with chores likes painting and cleaning their yards and has expanded into helping struggling nonprofits. When they met on a rainy Saturday in December, they spent their day helping Big Brother Big Sister, St. Vincent’s De Paul, Harvest Food Outreach and ARC among others.

Fetzer and the other Kiwanian’s provide support, food and assist the youths in creating, building and repairs.
