We won’t be calling Steve Rennick a Sheriff’s Deputy any time soon, at least, not until he finishes his stint as a star dancer in this season’s Dancing with Vero’s Stars on May 14.

Rennick became a “student” in the Citizen’s Academy, an eleven week program that provides the public with an overview of the criminal justice system. It offers the community a better understanding of how law enforcement and the public can work together to prevent crime and provide the best service possible.  Rennick and other “students” got the opportunity to receive a behind the scenes experience of the various departments of the Sheriff’s Office from a tour of the jail, 911 Call Center, CSI, helicopter, courthouse, and much more. At the end of his journey, Rennick attended a graduation celebration where he received a diploma. And he had a chance to mingle with two past star dancers, Sheriff Darryl Loar and Lt. Eric Flowers who shared their success stories and dancing tips with him.
